The Role: Product Owner (Part-Time, Web App-Savvy)

Our new Part-Time Product Owner will be the brain and engine behind our development flow. You’ll be entrusted with deciding what gets built, why, and how. You will work directly with our two founders, a full-time Rails developer, and a part-time designer—a tight, expert team committed to shipping 4–10 times per week.

Your Core Mission: Driving Product Forward

Your day-to-day will be a dynamic mix of strategy, scoping, and quality assurance. As the Part-Time Product Owner, your responsibilities include:

1. Strategic Prioritization: Gather and synthesize input from customer feedback, data, and market competition to define the highest-impact features. You decide what gets built next.
2. Lean Feature Definition: Work with design to nail down specs and, crucially, cut scope to ensure features remain lean, fast, and deliver core value quickly. Pragmatism is key.
3. Development Oversight: Maintain smooth progress for the developer and designer, answering questions, adjusting requirements if work is dragging, and triaging bugs for a steady, unblocked flow.
4. Testing and Quality Assurance (QA): Perform light QA to ensure every new feature matches the spec and design perfectly before deployment.
5. GitHub Mastery: Comfortably manage issues, read Pull Requests (PRs), and provide useful, technical comments to the developer.

• Pragmatic & Focused: You instinctively know when to keep scope lean and when “good enough” is enough to ship value quickly.
• Organized and Proactive: You ensure the development team always has work lined up and blockers are removed with urgency.
• Thrives on Async: You prefer clear, written communication and are effective without synchronous meetings.

Bonus Points (Not required, but a major plus): Experience with the Rails console or SQL for deeper data analysis, or the ability to get a Rails project running locally.

Compensation & Next Steps

The compensation for this exciting, flexible Part-Time Product Owner position is $40–$50 per hour, paid hourly under a freelance contract.
